/ Introduction

About the Project

This full townhouse remodel in Culver City was designed in a contemporary modern style with warm, architectural details, blending clean lines with bold contrast. The condo had retained many of its original 1980s-era design elements from when the building was first constructed. The clients had a specific vision and budget in mind and knew they wanted a highly rated remodeling company to bring the project to life.

This full remodel consisted of a complete renovation of the kitchen, the master bathroom, the hallway bathroom, and other changes in the bedroom and other parts of the living space. The outdated layout presented several challenges, most notably working within a large building complex with limited access and strict HOA requirements. The result is a refined yet livable home that reflects a warm contemporary aesthetic grounded in thoughtful detail and modern functionality.

  • Scope of work: Layout reconfiguration, custom cabinetry and integrated storage solutions, upgraded flooring systems, layered lighting design, and required structural enhancements.
  • Duration: Two months
  • Completion: 2022

Original Challenges

The project began with a series of structural challenges that affected both the layout and overall feel of the townhouse. Limited natural light and a closed-off kitchen, burdened by a laundry room positioned directly in the middle, disrupted flow and usability. Outdated finishes, worn hardware, uneven flooring, and multiple mismatched floor materials contributed to an inconsistent and aging appearance throughout the unit. We also needed to evaluate and update aging plumbing and electrical systems before cosmetic improvements could move forward. Working within a large building complex added another layer of complexity, with restricted access, limited staging space, and strict HOA requirements, all while adhering to a compressed timeline prior to move-in.

Our Solutions

The renovation focused on opening the kitchen by removing a wall and integrating the laundry area into a cohesive layout. We reconfigured the overall floor plan to better support modern living, introducing new cabinetry that maximized storage efficiency and elevated the aesthetic. To meet current codes, we upgraded the plumbing and electrical systems, adding energy-efficient LED lighting, updated outlets, and dimmers throughout the unit to enhance functionality and ambiance. New engineered wood flooring was installed across the home to unify the space and provide long-term durability.

In the living room, we introduced wall paneling to create contrast and architectural character, complemented by updated fixtures, hardware, and refined finishes. We replaced interior doors, removed outdated wall textures, and applied fresh paint to achieve a clean, cohesive feel. The primary bathroom was transformed by removing the framed-in tub and installing a new soaking tub, while the powder room received wallpaper to introduce warmth and a subtle desert-inspired calm.

Material Choices

Reclaimed Oak luxury vinyl plank and laminate flooring from MSI established a consistent foundation throughout the home, paired with Trimlite doors for a clean architectural backdrop. The kitchen was defined by blue lower and white upper Shaker-style cabinetry, Calacatta Trevi quartz countertops, a Cloe 2.5″ x 8″ ceramic tile backsplash in white, and an Elkay farmhouse sink accented by a Kohler Krue faucet. Harman Detroit pendant lights introduced contrast above stainless steel appliances and gold fixtures. In the bathrooms, Bayker Maiolica tile added texture, while a Wyndham Collection 60″ x 36″ soaking tub and Miranda 60″ vanity in cultured marble completed the primary suite with a refined, cohesive finish.

Client Testimonial

General Remodeling, Culver City

Before we started this project, the most important thing for us was to find a partner that we could trust. A company that will execute on the project, our vision within the constrains that we had within the budget that we had, and especially within the timeframes. One of the things that we really like about Oasis Builders and the reason why we ended up working with them is the fact that not only their website showcased incredible projects and the standard that we were looking for, but also they were extremely responsive. One of the most enjoyable things that we experienced while working with Neev and Oasis Builders was just the problem solving - this apartment was pretty old, and we ran into some interesting issues that were dealt with incredibly fast and incredibly well. The project was done within the timeframes of the timelines that we set up, and seeing this apartment go from very old-school style design, very old into this modern, beautiful place - it was just a dream come true. We are very happy that we chose Oasis Builders to do this remodeling, everything went better than we expected, faster than we expected, and was within our budget!
